With summer on the way, my body temp has been rising just considering the temperature waves. I know it's wasteful, and where I live we only get perhaps a week or at most too of really severe temperature all summer, but still, I think it might be time to get an air conditioning system. After years and years, sweating it out, or going to the movie houses to stay at all cool, I feel like I really deserve an air conditioner, and the fact that I'm growing older also truly contributes. The issue is that they can be so pricey.

The prices that they show you on the internet are already very high, but what they don't inform you is the rest of the story. Not only do they have to put in the air conditioning system, charging you for parts and labor, but they may have to altogether overhaul your ventilation system. If, like me, you rarely or never use your heating system, chances are good that it is not in that great a shape. Particularly if you have a house built in one of those new developments that spring up overnight with substandard building, you doubtless don't even have correctly sealed ducts. Before you get a new air conditioning system, or heating and cooling system installed, you will probably need to purchase all of those new ducts to be professionally sealed and cleaned. And if the problem is bad enough, and there's enough grime in the system, you may have to have them replaced and rehung altogether before you can get any 1 of the many air conditioning systems which are to be had.

I think that the best resolution for me might just be to get 1 of the newer window mounted air conditioning systems. They have become cheaper and less expensive, and they use a reduced amount of energy than ever before, as I've heard. It seems like a more cost-effective answer all around, because I can just spend my time in that room when I wish to be cool, without needing to pay to run the air conditioning system to cool the entire house, which is a massive expense. I think that central air will have to wait a minimum of another year at this point. I would rather spend my money on trips to the beach.
